2017 Edition Of ‘Race-The-State’ Tweaks The Course

race the state

If you would like to take full advantage of Rhode Island’s beautiful coastline, Race-The-State challenges you to:

  • Paddle Board
  • Bike
  • Run

…across Rhode Island. In response to  competitor feedback, the race organizers have updated the first three legs of the course as follows:

Leg 1: 4.5 mile run from South Shore Beach to Taylors Lane Beach, Little Compton

Leg 2: 2.5 mile SUP from Taylors Lane Beach, Little Compton to 3rd Beach, Middletown

Leg 3: 8 mile run from 3rd Beach, Middletown to Fort Adams, Newport

The final two legs remain the untouched:

Leg 4: 5.6 Mile Kayak – Fort Adams to Narragansett with a portage in Jamestown

Leg 5: 29 Mile Bike – Narragansett to Westerly

From there the kayak and bike legs will remain the same. This course change allows for a more challenging SUP leg (from 1m to 2.5m) and a shorter second run leg (from 12m to 8m).

Race the State utilizes the geography of the state the race takes place in to create a truly unique event. Starting in Little Compton and finishing in Westerly, Race the State spans 50 miles!

The race takes place on August 6th, 2017, learn more…
